Hunting for an Abandoned Amusement Park in Berlin

Image
Of everywhere I've travelled to, I've returned to Berlin the most. The city remains my favourite to this day, no one trip has been the same. Except each time I've visited the city, I've stayed with friends living there. Having seen the East Side Gallery a couple of times, and checked out Checkpoint Charlie, this time was different. We didn't head for the real touristy things, we spent our day searching out an abandoned amusement park.

Each Tuesday from now on I'll be hosting interviews with other travel bloggers, to help you discover more blogs and even more inspiration to travel. If you want to be part of this series please contact me.

1. For those who don’t know you, introduce yourself and your blog

Hi there. I’m John Roberts, and I run the website and blog at InTheLoopTravel.com, which focuses on cruises and destinations and how travelers can break away from the pack to have a more active, healthful and exciting experience.

For the Love of Pierogi

Image
I have a confession to make.

I stopped in Poland to get my Pierogi fix.

Or at least, when I realised I was pretty close to Poland, I was excited to cross the border and get some (lots) of Pierogi in my belly. In fact I may have had it several times, yes in 36hrs! I mean I love food, really love it. Like, I may have perhaps planned to spend a day in Poland just to get my Pierogi fix.

A Winter Wander through Warsaw

Image
I had been dying to get back to Poland ever since I visited Krakow and Zakopane back in Summer 2013, it's such an underrated country, especially amongst Brits. When I went the first time, I got to see the gorgeous town square in Krakow and discover the beautiful mountains in Zakopane, this time I decided to visit the countries capital, Warsaw.

We are Claire and Glen from Couple Castaway. We’re a mid (OK, late) twenties married couple who decided to give up our high flying careers in London to travel the world and make a go at earning a living online.

That Time I Met the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Uzupis...

My last day in Vilnius was spent soaking up the sun, and walking to all the site's I'd yet to get to after the previous day's Walking Tour. Altho' I'd checked out of my hostel in the morning, I'd gone back late afternoon, once it had started to get dark and cold, to charge my phone before my night on the bus, and take a nap.

All sounds inconspicuous so far, doesn't it?

Vilnius is Beautiful, and You Should Go, Now!

Image
Tallinn was supposed to be my favourite Baltic city. It's fairytale architecture, delicious pancakes, as well as other food, the snow and a Christmas market still going even in January. After Riga, I wasn't expecting a great deal from Vilnius, but when I arrived alone, early evening into the bright pastel coloured city. The place was dotted with Christmas decorations, a huge Christmas tree with lights twinkling and a jet black sky with a flurry of snow falling, I was bowled over by the city immediately.

Traveller Tuesday with Mikaela of A Place Like Me in a Girl Like This

Each Tuesday from now on I'll be hosting interviews with other travel bloggers, to help you discover more blogs and even more inspiration to travel. If you want to be part of this series please contact me.

1. For those who don’t know you, introduce yourself and your blog:

I’m Mikaela, the girl behind the obnoxiously long blog name (sorry about that). The first time I watched the movie ‘The Mummy’ I was captivated by the adventure, history, and magic. To this day I wish I could jump into the movie and help Evelyn read ancient Egyptian, fight ancient foes, and save the world. I loved that she was able to stop the destruction of the world with her linguistic knowledge and awesome librarian skills. Through A Place Like Me In A Girl Like This I delve into my love of cultures, languages, and literature. With my independent spirit in tow, I decided to experience the world on my own terms. Armed with great determination, the support of family, and an intense case of wanderlust, I set off t…

Riga's Really Cool, But...

Image
The bus took just over 4hrs to get from Tallinn to Riga, and I was sad to be leaving Tallinn behind, even if the snow had turned to slush and the rain had joined us. My arrival in Riga didn't make it any better, either. It was dark already, and had been almost since I left Tallinn. The journey into the city passed by run down houses, smashed windows, tarpaulin draped across abandoned looking buildings. Places I didn't want to get out at, basically.

A Fairytale Start to the Year in Tallinn

Image
I felt like the only English person on the ferry between Helsinki and Tallinn, and definitely was the only person excited enough by the city's skyline to brave the elements and stand on the inappropriately named 'sun' deck to watch as the city got closer. All I knew about Tallinn, and the rest of the Baltics was to expect castle's and fairytale type architecture, and Tallinn was not disappointing. The view of the old town from the water made me excited to get out exploring.

Traveller Tuesday with Chris & Christina of the Wandering C's

Each Tuesday from now on I'll be hosting interviews with other travel bloggers, to help you discover more blogs and even more inspiration to travel. If you want to be part of this series please contact me.

1. For those who don’t know you, introduce yourself and your blog

We are Chris and Christina, and together, we’re known as The Wandering Cs. As for our travels, over the years, we’ve been on many vacations, business trips, and holidays, but in 2010, we began RVing full-time in the United States and have been on the road (in one form or another) ever since. In the last year, we decided that we wanted to help other people get out there and travel and decided that a travel site would be a great way to do so.

As a result, and after a steep learning curve, we launched our travel site, thewanderingcs.com, in September 2014. The site focuses on travel in America, traveling (that’s “travelling” for those of you in Europe) in an RV (aka caravan), maintaining wellness as you travel, and ch…

Rediscovering Civilisation in Helsinki

Image
As soon as I left the train station, I could see it. Even in the train station I was shocked by what greeted me. People and lights and a well needed ATM. The temperature was a balmy -1c, the day before in Lapland it had been hitting -30c & I had 4 tops on.
