Traveller Tuesday with Miia from Worldliciouz

Each Tuesday from now on I'll be hosting interviews with other travel bloggers, to help you discover more blogs and even more inspiration to travel. If you want to be part of this series please contact me.

1. For those who don’t know you, introduce yourself and your blog

My name is Miia and I just turned 23 yay! I'm from Finland and am living in our beautiful capital, Helsinki. I've loved traveling since I was a kid and I've always wanted to see the wonders of this planet we live on. Traveling gives me the feeling of freedom, but reminds me of how small I really am. I'm consumed by Wanderlust, that will probably never fade away. That's the reason I launched my travelblog Worldliciouz. Well, that and the fact that I love writing, especially stories. Worldliciouz combines my two loves, traveling and writing, sharing amazing stories with everyone who wants to read them.
I'm writing in English and then translating it all into Finnish as well.

2. Are you a light packer or an overpacker, what one thing won’t you leave the house without?

I'd like to say I'm somewhat in between. But to be honest, I'm an overpacker for sure! I always pack way too many options, when it comes to shoes and clothing.
But the thing I never leave the house without is a pen and a notebook. Or if I for some reason forget them, I will always have my phone (how boooring!) to write things down with. You never know when the inspiration strucks, right? When it comes to traveling, I always have a camera, no matter where I go, because I want to remember each moment and what better way than to capture it with your camera.

3. Do you plan trips or just go with the flow?

I'm a planner. I do lots of research before my trips, write down places I want to see and find ways to getting to them. Not because I don't like going with the flow, I'm just a little bit of a control freak travel wise. I want to see as much as possible, as I have only limited time to spend exploring, before I have to go back home again. So I always look up some must-see things and how to reach them and then while on the road I'll decide what do I feel like doing today. But I always try to leave some time for pointless wandering as well, that's the way you find the hidden gems. But I get a panic attack if I get too badly lost... so I need some plans to begin with, as I have no sense of direction at all.

4. Where has been your favourite place to visit to date?

There's been too many places to pick just one favorite! I love Croatia and the beaches and croatian sunsets, and river Krka and its National Park was one of the most beautiful destinations I have been to.
But I love German people and all the possibilities the country offers and it has some really pretty scenery as well.
And then I have these most amazing memories from Canada, even though it wasn't a “normal” trip, and I was just a kid, I think I was like 7 years old then and went as a mascot for my sister's ringette team, as they took part in a canadian ringette tournament.
I just can't pick one, too many amazing places, but not nearly enough!

5. Is there anywhere you don’t want to go?

Well.. I have to admit it and say yes. In Europe, I wouldn't want to go to Belarus. Only because I don't support the way the country's been ruled and the human rights been stomped on. So this is purely political (even though I know nothing about politics).
Some of the middle African countries as well are the kinds not calling to me that much, thanks to having the image of being unsafe, being ruled with fear and force and all that kinds of things.
So to sum it up, my reasons for not wanting to visit some places are purely political and I do want to feel safe when traveling. Like, I wouldn't go to Ukraine now, because of the Ukraine Crisis going on. But things do change and I won't say “never”.

6.What is the most important item on your “Bucket List”, or if you don’t have one what one place or thing don’t you want to miss out?

My bucket list is huge! But for now, the number one place would be Plitvice lakes in Croatia. Why? Well because I know I'm getting to see them soon! We're heading to Croatia in the change of May and June and the trip to Plitvice has been set already. This place has been on my bucket list for years now and I can't wait!

7. What is the best experience you’ve had whilst traveling?

Best experience... This is almost as hard as the favorite place so far! Yet again there's so many. I love meeting the locals and when in Canada, I met these most amazing people.
But if you think about it the wondering way.. Probably National Park Krka has been the most amazing. The place was breathtakingly beautiful and unexpected.
History wise, I'd say Dubrovnik, in Croatia as well. It felt almost unreal to walk on the Dubrovnik town walls, see the view and the ships on the sea. If it weren't for all the tourists, you could have almost been there, back in the past, when people defended the city from those walls. You could also add the historic town of Šibenik too. But maybe Dubrovnik got the best of those two...

8.What tip would you give other traveller’s?

Just go! You'll never know if you don't go. Always try new things and keep your eyes, mind and heart open. You can never know what you'll find from themost unexpected places. Step off from the beaten path, at least for a while, you'll never know what kind of hidden gems you'll find.

9. If you had to choose one place to live forever, where would it be and why?

I'm gonna say Berlin, Germany. I love the city and feel like I've come to home whenever I visit. I've been there so many times and still the city keeps surprising me. Berlin has something for everyone and it will never be dull.
You didn't say stay forever, right? Because, Berlin is located so centrally in Europe, traveling would be so easy. The city has great connections to the world with its 3 (well at least 2 in use now, I'm not sure when they'll open up the 3rd one) airports and great railway network.

10. What’s next for you…

Well.. I just bought my own domain and a hosting service. I will be launching Worldliciouz self-hosted as soon as I get the page customized just perfect. In the mean time I will keep updating Worldliciouz on blogger. But hopefully soon I can direct you all to the new page! And I will be working with lovely Sammi here, but you'll get to read about it a little later I think.

Travel wise after Croatia in May-June, the next “bigger” trip will hopefully be in October, when I'll be heading to explore Israel. I promise you, you'll be in for a treat if you pop by my blog after the Israel trip; I will have some most amazing, rare, contents for you to share. But I don't want to give out any spoilers yet!
